Ethiopia: Opposition Party Position on Election Postponement

Ethiopia Insight posted on 4 May 2020 the "Opposition Parties Statement on Election Postponement."

Under Ethiopia's constitution, the mandate of the current government ends on 10 October 2020. Because of COVID-19 the government has tabled four proposals to deal with the power vacuum that would occur with the postponement of elections. Seven opposition political parties oppose all four options and proposed instead "a national consensus among political parties" to come up with a solution.
