The International Crisis Group (ICG) hosted a half hour podcast titled "The Horn: Peace and Conflict in Africa, Then and Now" with Alan Boswell and ICG's Africa program director, Comfort Ero. They look at how conflict and peacekeeping have changed--and not changed--across Africa over the past decade.
The main focus of the discussion is the Horn of Africa. Comfort Ero explains that African conflicts continue to be a problem while there have been increased efforts to democratize in Africa. The African Union has become more assertive. The past importance of the United States is being replaced by the Africans themselves, Gulf States, China, Turkey, and others.
