Impact on China of Conflict in Ethiopia's Tigray Region

The Diplomat published on 10 December 2020 a commentary titled "What Ethiopia's Ethnic Unrest Means for China" by Austin Bodetti.

Following the outbreak of conflict in Tigray Region, China evacuated almost 600 Chinese nationals from two infrastructure projects in the region raising the question whether the projects will be completed.  The war also casts doubt on the future of foreign investment in Tigray Region.  The Chinese state-owned China Communications Construction Company built Mekelle's most important industrial park and its ability to attract foreign investors looks far less certain now.
