The Eurasia Daily Monitor published on 29 June 2021 an analysis titled "China and Russia Both Cooperating and Competing in Africa" by Paul Goble.
The author concludes that Russia is likely to fall even further behind China in Africa because Beijing is pursuing a much longer-term approach that involves integrating the continent into the Belt and Road Initiative.
