The International Crisis Group published on 30 July 2021 an analysis titled "The Dangerous Expansion of Ethiopia's Tigray War" by Will Davison.
The author believes a massive recruitment drive by the Ethiopian National Defense Forces and military advances by the Tigray Defense Forces into neighboring Afar and Amhara Regions will result in a significantly wider war in Ethiopia.
