USAID published on 30 September 2021 a detailed fact sheet titled "Ethiopia - Tigray Crisis." It also deals with the situation in Amhara and Afar regions, where the situation is worsening.
An estimated 5.2 million people in Tigray region require humanitarian assistance while nearly 1.5 million in Afar and Amhara regions are experiencing acute food insecurity conditions following the expansion of conflict in those regions between the TPLF and Ethiopian National Defense Forces. An estimated 600 humanitarian relief trucks have reached Tigray since 1 July, less than 10 percent of those needed to sustain humanitarian operations. Fuel is low in Tigray and the government of Ethiopia continues to block fuel, commercial supplies, and some critical humanitarian requirements from reaching Tigray. The US government and its partners are scaling up assistance to newly crisis-affected populations in Afar and Amhara regions.
