The Committee to Protect Journalists posted on 11 April 2022 a statement titled "Somaliland Intelligence Officers Attack 3 Journalists; Detain Journalist Abdisalan Ahmed Awad."
Somaliland intelligence personnel reportedly attacked three journalists on 18 March and subsequently detained one of them who complained publicly about the incident.
Comment: This is not the kind of action that contributes positively to Somaliland's well-deserved reputation for supporting democratic principles.
