New US Partnership with Africa Seeks Improvement from African Side

 The Council on Foreign Relations blog posted on 10 August 2022 a commentary titled "Biden Signals Policy Reset, but African Leaders Must Meet Washington Halfway" by Ebenezer Obadare.  

Secretary of State Antony Blinken laid out a new US policy for Africa during his visit this week to South Africa.  The US proposes to improve its partnership with African countries and do more to support African democracy.  At the same time, African governments are expected to deal with human rights abuses, corruption, and exclusionary governance.
