The Voice of America published on 13 September 2022 an article titled "Why China, African Nations Are Cooperating in Space" by Kate Bartlett.
More than 20 African countries now have space programs. Last week, 3 Chinese astronauts spoke to students from 8 African countries via video link during an event hosted by the China Mission to the African Union in Addis Ababa. This outreach was an effort to demonstrate the importance China is placing on the role Africa can help it play in the global space race.
