China-Namibia Space Cooperation

The Namibian published on 7 September 2022 an article titled "China Strengthens Space Cooperation with Nam" by Sophie Tendane.

China recently hosted a virtual discussion between students from 8 African countries and 3 Chinese astronauts from the Tiangong space station.  Students in Namibia took part in the discussion.  Namibia has a special space relationship with China.  In 2001, China built a tracking and command station at Swakopmund to track Chinese space missions.  China has pledged to construct a satellite digital-receiving ground station on the outskirts of Windhoek.  China will also train Namibian technicians on space technology and conduct space research with Namibia.
