US Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement on 24 October 2022 titled "One Year Anniversary of Military Takeover in Sudan."
Blinken said the United States continues to reject military rule in Sudan and called for a new civilian-led government that will unlock the resumption of international assistance. He also supported the UN, African Union, and Intergovernmental Authority on Development efforts to encourage constructive dialogue.
