Nanyang Technological University posted on 26 January 2023 an article titled "Oil Discovered in Somaliland."
The government of Somaliland announced its first oil discovery in a block under exploration license to London-listed Genel Energy. CPC Corporation of Taiwan holds a stake in an adjacent oil block. The Somali government in Mogadishu, which claims Somaliland, warned Genel Energy to desist from exploring in Somaliland.
