The South China Morning Post published on 7 May 2023 an article titled "Why China May Be Reluctant to Get Too Deeply Involved in Sudan Peace Effort" by Jevans Nyabiage.
The China National Petroleum Corporation has significant investments in Sudan and South Sudan. In spite of earlier efforts to resolve conflicts in Sudan's Darfur region and South Sudan's civil war, China does not appear to be engaging in any major way to bring an end to the current power struggle between the Sudan Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces.
