The Associated Press published on 12 May 2023 an article titled "South Africa Summons US Ambassador Over Weapons for Russia Allegations" by Gerald Imray.
The United States ambassador to South Africa charged that last December South Africa allowed a Russian ship to secretly load arms and ammunition for use in Ukraine. South Africa's president said it is investigating the allegation but criticized the United States for making the charge publicly.
