The Council on Foreign Relations posted on 15 June 2023 a commentary titled "Seeking Urgency in Sudan" by Michelle Gavin.
The author commented that efforts to end the conflict in Sudan must begin with the view that both the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces do not represent the people of Sudan and have no legitimate claim to power. She added "they are criminals, busily killing and terrorizing their hostages, and willing to drag the entire fragile region into fractious conflict along with them."
