The Middle East Institute published on 5 June 2023 a short analysis by me titled "US Adopts Additional Sanctions on Sudan."
I conclude that the most recent American sanctions on Sudan are not likely to have any significant impact. While the sanctions signal Washington's unhappiness with the activities of the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, they face major practical limitations.
