The US State Department issued a press release on 3 October 2026 titled "U.S. Statement on Increased Tensions Between Ethiopia and Eritrea."
Washington urged Ethiopia and Eritrea to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of their neighbors, exercise maximum restraint and return to dialogue. The State Department added that a conflict jeopardizes ongoing U.S. collaboration on shared interests with both countries.
