Economic data and projections for Ethiopia

Access Capital released the Ethiopia Macroeconomic Handbook for 2010 on March 30, 2010. This is a private, Addis Ababa-based organization that encourages investment in Ethiopia. The 2010 handbook contains a wealth of economic information that is useful for the generalist and the specialist. It includes solid economic analysis.

It explains, for example, that the service sector of the economy will likely make up more than half of the economy within two years while the role of agriculture is decreasing. Inflation has fallen sharply. Access Capital projects that, contrary to more robust official government projections, the annual economic growth rate over the medium term will not exceed the 6-8 percent range. Trade with and investment from the Middle East, India and China will, according to Access Capital, surpass that from the West in three years.
