The Center for American Progress in Washington hosted on 18 December 2012 a panel discussion on the US and China'a approach to Africa. Senator Chris Coons (Democrat from Delaware), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, provided a keynote speech. The panelists were David Shinn, adjunct professor in the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, Joshua Eisenman, senior fellow in China studies at the American Foreign Policy Council, and Daniel Runde, director of the Project on Prosperity and Development at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
