Sudan: Preserving Peace in the East
The International Crisis Group (ICG) published on 26 November 2013 a report titled "Sudan: Preserving Peace in the East." The ICG describes peace in the east as increasingly fragile. Seven years after signing the Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement (ESPA), the conflict's root causes remain and in some cases are more acute due to the failure to implement many of the agreement's provisions. The ICG urges all ESPA stakeholders to reconvene and address the deteriorating situation.
