The China Africa Research Initiative at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies published in August 2019 a working paper titled "Chinese Manufacturing and Agricultural Investment in Tanzania: A Scoping Study" by Ying Xia, Harvard Law School.
The paper examines Chinese manufacturing and agricultural investments in Tanzania. It found that most investments in these two sectors have been driven by the potential of African markets and access to raw materials and cheap labor, rather than financial incentives provided by the Chinese government.
