The International Crisis Group (ICG) published on 16 April 2021 a brief titled "Somalia: Averting a Descent into Political Violence."
Tension has increased in Somalia following parliament's decision to extend the incumbent president's term by two years. The ICG urges external partners led by the African Union to mediate talks among Somalia's bitterly divided political elites.
