Will Putin's War Result in Increased Chinese Arms Sales in Africa?

 The Conversation published on 27 March 2022 a commentary titled "Sanctions against Russia Will Affect Arms Sales to Africa: The Risks and Opportunities" by Moses B. Khanyile, Stellenbosch University.

Almost half of Africa's imports of conventional weapons come from Russia and about 13 percent from China.  Sanctions on Russia will complicate future arms sales and its ability to maintain or overhaul existing equipment.   This may create an opportunity for suppliers such as China to increase sales to Africa.
