Dryad Global published on 10 June 2022 an article titled "Will Comoros Be China's Next 'Djibouti' in Indian Ocean Region?" by Bharat Shakti.
The author concludes that China could be the Comoro Islands preferred partner for strategic port development and there is a real possibility of the Comoros emerging as the next "Djibouti" in the Indian Ocean. In Beijing's calculus, the impoverished but geographically blessed Comoros fit the bill as a valuable strategic partner.
