Fighting has surged in Ethiopia's Tigray Region as secret efforts to achieve peace led by the United States have given way to raging combat. Eritrean forces have pounded Tigray with artillery barrages and several thousand Ethiopian troops have been flown to Eritrea to help with the assault along Tigray's northern border. Tigray Defense Forces have been able to resupply with flights from neighboring Sudan.
