The International Crisis Group (ICG) published on 21 July 2023 a commentary titled "Time to Try Again to End Sudan's War."
The conflict has pushed Sudan to the brink of ruin as more of the country outside Khartoum descends into violence. Although the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have the upper hand in the capital region, their abysmal international standing and inability to control all of Sudan leave it in a weak position. The next step should be a concerted effort to urge key leaders on both sides to end the war through talks as unlikely as that prospect may be.
