China Seeks Control Over African Minerals

 The Wilson Center's blog Africa Up Close posted on 2 May 2024 a commentary titled "Addressing China's Monopoly over Africa's Renewable Energy Minerals" by Desmond Egyin.

China controls only about 8 percent of Africa's mining sector but the United States is concerned by its much larger control over cobalt, copper, and lithium.  The author suggests steps the US could take to improve its position in Africa's mining sector.
