Chinese Companies Sign Big Investment Deals in Suez Canal Economic Zone

 Arabian Gulf Business Insight published on 17 October 2023 an article titled "Suez Canal Economic Zone Signs $15bn Energy Deals" by Melissa Hancock.

China Energy engineering signed a $6.75 billion deal with Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone for a green ammonia and green hydrogen project to be built in its Sokhna industrial zone.  China's Hong Kong United Energy Group signed a memorandum of understanding for a potassium chloride production complex in the Economic Zone that may result in an investment of up to $8 billion.

Putin's War May Increase Price of Fertilizer Important to African Agriculture

 The Conversation published on 3 March 2022 an analysis titled "Russia's War with Ukraine Risks Fresh Pressure on Fertiliser Prices" by Wandile Sihlobo.

Russia is a major supplier of inputs for producing fertilizer, which is necessary for African agriculture.  Its war in Ukraine may impact its ability to export key fertilizer inputs such as ammonia, urea, and potassium chloride, resulting in significantly higher prices African countries must pay to sustain their agriculture.
