The international law firm White & Case published on 7 February 2018 a background piece titled "Belt and Road in Africa."
It is a useful discussion of China's outward direct investment in Africa. It puts China's investment stock in Africa at the end of 2015 at $35 billion, which probably understates the actual number. According to White & Case, China has the fourth largest amount of investment stock in Africa after the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Recent flows from China to Africa, however, are growing faster than flows from the United States.
