Analysis of China-Africa Relations

The South African Foreign Policy Initiative published on 13 May 2013 a brief analysis on China-Africa relations titled "Africa's Strategy Must Be To Gain from China."  The authors are Mthuli Ncube, chief economist and vice president of the African Development Bank, and Michael Fairbanks, a fellow at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard. 

They conclude that the three key African nations in the China-Africa relationship are Angola, Nigeria and South Africa.  In its approach to Africa, China employs the broadest array of instruments of any international power and the goal is simple: promote stability on the African continent that fosters trade to fuel China's industrial capacity.
