McKinsey & Company published in June 2017 a report titled "The Closest Look Yet at Chinese Economic Engagement in Africa" by Kartik Jayaram, Omid Kassiri, and Irene Sun.
Based on field interviews with more than 1,000 Chinese companies, it concludes that China has become Africa's most important economic partner. It estimated that more than 10,000 Chinese-owned firms operate in Africa today.
