The Washington Post Monkey Cage posted on 17 April 2021 a summary analysis titled "Chinese Investment in Africa Involves More than Megaprojects. Private Enterprises also Are Making Their Mark" by Yoon Jung Park.
The China Africa Research Initiative looked at private Chinese investment in Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Madagascar, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zambia. It found that in all seven countries, Chinese investment is having a net positive economic impact in creating jobs and transferring skills but a limited impact on technology transfer.
