Russia in Africa: Resurgent Great Power or Bellicose Pretender?

The South African Institute of International Affairs published on 10 December 2022 a book review titled "Russia in Africa: Resurgent Great Power or Bellicose Pretender?" by Joseph Siegle, Africa Center for Strategic Studies in Washington.

This is a review of a new book by Samuel Ramani titled Russia in Africa: Resurgent Great Power or Bellicose Pretender?  Ramani attributes Russia's expanding influence in Africa to US and French passivity.  But Vladimir Putin has chosen a strategy of demonizing the West and undercutting the United Nations as a way of enhancing Russia's influence.  This may not be a sustainable policy.
