The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) published in September 2016 a policy brief titled "More Than a Chip Off the Old Block: Strengthening IGAD-AU Peacebuilding Linkages" by Amanda Lucey and Berouk Mesfin, both with ISS.
The policy brief argues that to become more effective, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) must consider its comparative advantage in relation to the African Union across the conflict spectrum, and to focus its engagements more effectively.

India and African Peacekeeping
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs published on 25 October 2015 a fact sheet titled "India: Providing for Peace in Africa" by Ruchita Beri, Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses in New Delhi.
India has contributed more troops to UN peacekeeping operations than any other country: nearly 185,000 to 48 UN peacekeeping operations worldwide. About 70 percent of these peacekeepers have served in an African peacekeeping operation.
