Analysis of Sudan's New Government

The Sudan Democracy First Group, an umbrella organization of Sudanese academics, civil society leaders, and trade unionists who are critical of the government in Khartoum, published on 7 July 2015 an analysis of Khartoum's new government titled "All the President's Men: On Al-Bashir's New Presidency."

Highlights of the analysis indicate that Bashir has managed to consolidate his personal control over the National Congress Party (NCP) following elections earlier this year.  The new cabinet represents an opportunistic alliance between the NCP and the Democratic Unionist Party.  Many of the new faces in the government represent the third and younger generation of committed Islamists while the first and second generations have been eased out.
