The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute published in March 2020 a report titled "Ethiopia's Transition: Implications for the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea Region" by Jason Mosley.
The report examines the intersection of two significant trends affecting the regional dynamics of the Horn of Africa. First, Ethiopia is undergoing a political transition that offers the prospect of significant reforms but carries risks to the country's economic and political stability. Second, since 2015, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have taken a more assertive approach to regional security that has now engulfed the Horn of Africa.
