Responsible Statecraft published on 17 June 2024 a commentary titled "Are the Houthis Winning in the Red Sea?" by Giorgio Cafiero, CEO of Washington-based Gulf State Analytics.
In spite of military strikes by the United States and United Kingdom on Houthi targets in Yemen, they retain the ability to obstruct shipping in the Red Sea. The commentary questions the sustainability of the US-UK operations against the Houthis and describes it as whack-a-mole while the Houthis are playing the long game.
