The BBC posted on 4 April 2025 an article titled "Trump's Tariffs Could Be Death Knell for US-Africa Trade Pact" by Anne Soy.
The Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which provides duty free status for qualified African countries, is up for Congressional renewal by September 2025. Trump's reciprocal tariffs on many of these countries puts in doubt the future of AGOA, the cornerstone of US trade policy with Africa.
