Africa is a testing ground for China's expeditionary capabilities and its military equipment. The People's Liberation Army's evolving training strategy in Africa is more relevant to building China's warfighting and expeditionary capabilities than to strengthening African force capacities. China's expanding military footprint and growing sophistication of military exercises in Africa have prompted deeper reflection on the strategic implications for Africa.
