Poverty in a Rising Africa

The World Bank recently published an excellent and comprehensive study titled "Poverty in a Rising Africa" by Kathleen Beegle, Luc Christiaensen, Andrew Dabalen, and Isis Gaddis.  You can download the entire document without charge. 

The authors acknowledge serious problems in obtaining reliable and comparative data across Africa, but the report still offers useful and, in some cases, surprising conclusions.

Economic Problems in Sudan

Good Governance Africa published on 1 November 2014 a brief commentary titled "Slipping Away" by James Copnall.  Following the sharp reduction in Sudan's oil revenue, it describes a deteriorating economic situation, growing income inequality, and the disappearance of the middle class.
