Repatriation of Somali Refugees from Kenya

The Mogadishu-based The Heritage Institute published in February 2013 a study titled Hasty Repatriation: Kenya's Attempt to Send Somali Refugees Home.  The report is critical of Kenya's plan to repatriate more than a half million Somali refugees in spite of continuing instability in Somalia.  It also argues that the Somali government is not ready to accommodate all of these refugees.

The Fate of IDPs in Somalia

In a report dated 1 November 2012, Refugees International evaluated the status of some 1.36 million internally displaced Somalis in Somalia and Somaliland. The organization concluded that while Somaliland is primed for long-term development opportunities, conditions in parts of Somalia are improving but the internally displaced population is at risk of being left behind.
