Conference on China and Africa

The Center for American Progress in Washington is hosting on 18 December from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. an event titled "One Continent, Two Approaches: The U.S. and China in Africa." It will look particularly at how the U.S. can reclaim its role as Africa's number one trading partner.

Senator Chris Coons, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs, will make a keynote address. This will be followed by remarks from the following panelists: myself, Joshua Eisenman, senior fellow in China studies, American Foreign Policy Council, and Daniel Runde, director of the Project on Prosperity and Development, Center for Strategic and International Studies. Former Congressman Tom Perriello, counselor to the Center for American Progress, will moderate the panel discussion.
