Ethiopia: The Dispute over Western Tigray

 Ethiopia Insight published on 3 August 2022 a commentary titled "Under Ethiopia's Federal System, Western Tigray Belongs in Tigray" by Abel Tesfaye.  

This commentary makes the argument that Western Tigray is and should remain part of Tigray Region and not Amhara Region.

Kenyan Rebuke of Russia's Invasion of Ukraine

 UNTV posted on 22 February 2022 a four-minute speech titled "Kenya's Envoy to UN Cites Colonial Past as He Condemns Russian Move into Ukraine."

Kenya's ambassador to the United Nations, Martin Kimani, drawing on Kenya's colonial past, gave an eloquent and courageous speech that was a sharp rebuke to Russia's actions in Ukraine, called on the world to respect the territorial integrity of the Ukraine, and reject the recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk.

Somalia and Somaliland: American Diplomats Recall Oral History

The Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training posted a piece titled "Somalia--From Great Hope to Failed State" based on the oral history of five American diplomats dating back to 1960.  Two are former ambassadors, two embassy officers, and one based in Washington during the international intervention in Somalia from 1992 to 1993.  These are the recollections of the officers a number of years after they served in Somalia.
