Humanitarian Situation in Northern Ethiopia Worsens

The International Medical Corps published on 1 October 2021 a humanitarian update on the situation in northern Ethiopia.

The conflict in northern Ethiopia has expanded to five zones in Amhara region (North Gondar, South Gondar, Wag Hemra, North Wollo, and South Wollo) and two zones in Afar region (Zone 1 and Zone 4).  The emergency response in Tigray region continues to be hampered by the disruption and suspension of essential services.  On a daily basis less than 11 percent of needed trucks and emergency supplies are reaching Tigray region.  Transporters are reluctant to dispatch trucks to Tigray as many of the drivers do not return.
