El Pais published on 23 December 2023 an article titled "Russia Expands into the Sahel with Its New Brand: Africa Corps" by Jose Naranjo.
Africa Corps is Russia's new armed mercenary organization directly linked to the Ministry of Defense and designed to replace the infamous Wagner Group. Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger are developing closer ties with Russia and, presumably, the new Africa Corps.
