The China Global South Project published on 28 August 2026 an article titled "China-Guinea Trade Is a Story of Bauxite and Iron" by Christian Geraud Neema Byamungu.

Guinea exports almost all of its bauxite and iron as raw ore and does not earn any added value. It wants to reach domestic aluminum refining capacity of about 6 million tons by 2030 rather than continue exporting raw ore.
