China Promotes Clean Energy in Africa

 East Asia Forum posted on 30 January 2026 an article titled "'Growing by Greening' and the Future of China-Africa Cooperation" by Xunpeng Shi, University of Technology Sydney, and Muyi Yang, Ember, a global energy think tank.

China's energy projects in Africa have shifted from large fossil fuel investments to solar and wind initiatives.  Nevertheless, there are challenges to the development of green energy that must be addr3ssed.

Forum on China-Africa Cooperation at Age 21

 The Italian Institute for International Political Studies published on 29 July 2021 a commentary titled "In Line for FOCAC 2021: Africa, China, and the Others" by Lina Benabdallah, Wake Forest University.

Senegal will host the Forum on China Africa Cooperation this year.  At age 21, FOCAC continues to be a useful forum for China-Africa discussion and public opinion of China in Africa remains positive.  At the same time, there is an unequal distribution of Chinese loans and investment in Africa.

China-Africa: Only Need to Play by International Rules

 DOD News posted on 10 September 2020 a commentary titled "China's Africa Investments Could Benefit All If International Rules Are Obeyed" by C. Todd Lopez.

Based on comments by U.S. officials at a recent conference in Washington, the author writes that China's investments and involvement in Africa can be beneficial and welcome so long as Beijing plays by established global norms.
