The Observer Research Foundation (ORF), an Indian think tank, published in October 2017 an analysis titled "India's Response to State Fragility in Africa" by Urvashi Aneja, a research fellow at ORF.
The study examines India's current response to state fragility in Africa. It concludes that despite growing economic and commercial ties with Africa, New Delhi chooses not to directly address the underlying causes of state fragility and vulnerability in the continent.

Rethinking Engagement in Fragile States
The Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies published in July 2015 a study entitled "Rethinking Engagement in Fragile States" by Jennifer Cooke and Richard Downie. It looks at four states in particular--Somalia, South Sudan, Mali, and Myanmar--and makes recommendations for external engagement with these states.

Security Sector Assistance in Africa
The Rand Corporation published in 2015 a report titled "Identifying and Mitigating Risks in Security Sector Assistance for Africa's Fragile States" by Stephen Watts. He looks at the risks of security sector assistance and makes recommendations for improving U.S. security sector assistance in Africa.

Ending Conflict and Building Peace in Africa
The High-Level Panel on Fragile States in Africa released its report on 15 January 2014 titled "Ending Conflict and Building Peace in Africa: A Call to Action."
The report identified the following as major challenges facing Africa: youth employment, urbanization, governance of natural resources, climate change, poverty and inequality. It recommended that African countries increase their focus on the following issues: develop new strategies for youth employment, create new instruments for supporting private investment, empower women, fund infrastructure that improves justice and security, and promote resilience through regional economic cooperation.

Critical Issues Related to Peace and Security in Africa
I was invited to give remarks at a conference in Beijing, China, on 25 October 2013 titled "Africa: 54 Countries, One Union" hosted by a number of organizations including former Italian President Romano Prodi's Foundation for World Wide Cooperation and the Institute of West-Asian and African Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
My remarks titled "Critical Issues Related to Peace and Security in Africa" focused on the relationship between fragile states, conflict, economic development, quality of life and democratic governance.
